You can tell Delphi which words, topics, or situations matter to you, and it can flag conversations that match.
Use alerts to spot potential customers, identify collaboration opportunities, or notice when someone needs a more personal follow-up.
Alerts are available on paid plans.
Set up an alert
Click ••• in the left sidebar, then select Settings.
Open Alerts. You can also go directly to your Alerts settings.
Create a new alert and describe what you want Delphi to look for. Use a specific word or phrase for a keyword-based alert, or describe a situation in plain language for a contextual alert.
Save your alert.
To receive alert emails, open Settings → Notifications and make sure alert emails are enabled.
Start with one or two signals that would genuinely change what you do next. For example, someone asking about your services may be more useful to flag than every mention of a broad topic you discuss often.
Types of alerts
Keyword-based alerts
Keyword-based alerts look for specific words or phrases in a conversation. Use them when the wording itself is important, such as the name of a product, a program, or an industry.
Example: “Notify me when someone mentions robotics.”
These are useful for:
Finding conversations about a particular product or service.
Tracking mentions of a topic you want to follow up on.
Spotting requests that use a recognizable term or phrase.
If people may describe the same idea in different ways, a contextual alert may be a better fit.
Contextual alerts
Contextual alerts look at the meaning of a conversation, rather than relying on one specific word. Describe the situation, intent, or combination of criteria you care about in plain language.
Example: “Alert me when someone asks about working with me and wants to understand pricing or next steps.”
These are useful for:
Identifying people interested in buying, booking, or collaborating.
Finding conversations where someone seems confused or frustrated.
Screening opportunities against specific criteria.
You can include multiple requirements and exclusions. For example: “Alert me when a fintech founder says their company has more than $1 million in annual recurring revenue and plans to raise funding within six months, excluding crypto exchanges.”
How you receive alerts
When a conversation matches an alert, you can review it through Delphi's in-app notifications. Alerts can also be delivered by email, depending on your notification preferences.
Open the matching conversation to read the full context before deciding how to respond.
Alerts are not a live message-by-message monitor. They are evaluated when a conversation ends, after approximately 30 minutes of inactivity. If someone is still chatting, allow time for the conversation to become inactive before expecting an alert.
What alerts can help you do
Prioritize follow-up. Find people who are asking about your services, offers, or availability.
Spot relevant opportunities. Surface conversations that fit your investment criteria, partnership interests, or areas of expertise.
Offer a personal response. Review conversations where someone needs clarification or additional support.
Learn what your audience needs. Use flagged conversations to identify questions worth addressing in your content or Delphi's knowledge.
An alert helps you decide where to focus. It does not replace reviewing the conversation or choosing the right next step.
Write more useful alerts
Be specific. “Someone asks how to book a consultation” is clearer than “Someone is interested.”
Include what matters. Describe any relevant topic, intent, timeframe, or qualifying criteria.
Add exclusions when needed. Explain which situations should not count.
Refine based on results. If you receive too many irrelevant matches, narrow the criteria. If useful conversations are being missed, try a contextual description instead of a single keyword.
Frequently asked questions
How are alerts different from notifications?
Alerts are custom criteria you set for conversations. Notifications control the updates you receive, including emails about unanswered questions, activity summaries, new visitor conversations, and product updates.
The New visitor conversations notification only tells you the first time a new person talks to your Delphi. It is not a notification for every message or every returning visitor.
Why haven't I received an alert?
Check that:
Your alert is saved and the conversation matches its criteria.
The conversation has been inactive long enough for the alert to be evaluated.
Alert emails are enabled in Settings → Notifications if you are expecting an email.
The email has not landed in your spam or junk folder.
You can also check your in-app notifications for the matching conversation.
Why can't I access Alerts?
Alerts are a paid-plan feature. If you are on the Free plan, you can still manage standard notification emails in Settings → Notifications, including new visitor conversations and unanswered questions.
